Well done to the Junior Hurlers who battled it out with Piltown down in sunny Piltown Sunday evening. A high scoring encounter delivered great excitement as Graig ran out winners by one point, 3-17 to 2-19. The value of a solid free taker was highlighted with a whistle-happy referee and Eddie Walsh showed great accuracy as he contributed 9 points, 7 from placed balls. Goals win games and Jamie McGrath proved his worth with two fine finishes adding to an early penalty converted by full back James Meaney as he made the long journey from one square to the other. Both teams traded points throughout with neither side ever opening up a decisive lead in the 70 minutes. James Cahill proved a handful in his new role at centre forward and along with two lively corner forwards in Ciaran O Brien and Sheamus Kavanagh, the score board kept ticking over. With the teams tied in the dying moments, the game winning opportunity fell to second half substitute Sean O Brien who duly obliged after breaking through the middle and slotting the home from 30 yards out. An excellent all-round performance seen Graig pick up a vital win and leave the club in high spirits leading into the final league game against Lisdowney on the 27th of July.

Graignamanagh: Ronan Dowling, Jim O Donnell, James Meaney (1-0, penalty), Sean Dowling, Diarmuid O Niell, Brendan Foley, Paul Hamilton, James Doyle, Eddie Dowling (0-2), Eddie Walsh (0-9, 0-7 f), James Cahill (0-1), Lee Kinsella, Sheamus Kavanagh (0-1), Jamie McGrath (2-1), Ciaran O Brien (0-1).
