Under 14 Roinn C County Semi Final: St. Fiacras 8-12 Emeralds 0-10
On Saturday last our Under 14s enjoyed a great victory over Emeralds in the Semi Final of the Championship. Against a stiff breeze the lads enjoyed a vital 3 point lead at half time hugely helped by goals from Terry Dreelan and the lively Richard Foley. With the wind at their backs in the second half, they were really impressive to significantly outscore their rivals with goals from Richard Foley, Sean Holden, Terry Dreelan + Eoin Cullen. An all round great team performance inspired by Niall Hayden in goal, a solid full back line of Seamus Lanigan, Shane Byrne and the never say die Sean Walsh. In the half back line Eoin Cullen, Michael Barcoe and Team Captain Stuart Maher were inspirational along with both Paddy Nolan and Joe Dowling in midfield. A half forward line of Sean Holden, Terry Dreelan and Michael Walsh tormented their opponents throughout while Richard Foley, Emmet Coakley and Ian Foley ran the show in the full forward line. Jack Carroll, Sean Cosgrave and Tadhg Delaney caused great problems also to the Emeralds defence when introduced and will no doubt be looking to stake their claim for a starting place in the final along with Danny Sheehy. A special best wishes to Team Goalie Aaron Foley who was at the match on crutches having picked up a serious injury in the quarter final.
