U14s  win County Final Graignamanagh 5-13    Fenians 2-10

The Fenians got off to a dream start with 1-01 on the scoreboard before Graignamanagh got off the mark. Graig soon settled and top scorer Ciarán O’Brien sent over a great point followed shortly afterwards by points from Ryan O’Halloran and Michael Coady.  The Fenians added another minor score and then converted a 65.  Graig added 4 more points before the break, Brandon  Fenlon (1) Michael Coady (2) Ciarán O’Brien (1)  Sharp shooter Ciarán O’Brien was taken down in his attack on goal and Graig were awarded a penalty which James Doyle duly converted. Graig led at half time by 1-07 to 1-04.

Seconds after the re-start Ciarán O’Brien had the ball in the Fenians net only to be disallowed  (square ball). This didn’t deter the Graig  boys as Adam kennedy and James Doyle launched attack after attack and James Doyle picked off a nice point.  Then the dynamic Ciarán O’Brien went on a scoring spree adding on 4-03 from play, bringing his personal tally to 4-05 from play.(Eddie Brennan watch out) The Fenians tagged on 1-06 in the second half but Graig’s victory was sealed off with points from James Doyle and Michael Coady.  This was a great team performance in which all the players worked really hard for each other and received their dew reward.  These young lads have been playing together since they were U8 and had their first taste of victory when they won The Stephen Byrne Tournament in Paulstown in 2004.  Sean Cahill had a quiet time between the posts as his back line of Ciarán Manning, James Meaney and Stephen Browne kept the lines clear.  The halfbacks, Peter Kavanagh, Adam Kennedy and Jordan Brett cut short many Fenian’s attacks.  James Doyle was the driving force at midfield where he was aided by Brandon Fenlon.  Adam Canning though he didn’t get on the scoreboard worked tirelessly and crossed in numerous balls to the full forward line.  Jack Conran and Ryan O’Halloran worked hard also.  James McCabe, Michael Coady and Ciarán O’Brien proved to be a handful for the Fenian’s Back line.  Subs Patrick Dowling, Dylan Conran, Sean Dowling, Jamie Dunne, Michael Bolger (injured) Liam Hearne, Gerard Hennessy.

Well-done boys and the best of luck against the same opposition in the league Final coming up soon.  Well done also to Mentors Jim Coady and Nicholas Russell who worked very hard with this team since the beginning of the season.
